Excercise is ugly. Seriously. When I was looking through some of these pictures I couldn't help but laugh at the "ugly" faces we all pulled while struggling through this grueling workout. **Please note** not all crossfit workouts are like this...this was a special one for the Grand Opening - so don't go and freak out on me. But you might as well go ahead and call us crazy crossfitters or fitness finatics - I'm okay with that...I try to keep it in the "closet" but this day was too memorable to not document. My brother-in-law Ray and sister Tia came in for the event as well as my cousin Tanner. We all started out "happy"....and while most of our family and friends kept smiles on their face - mine left right after the 100ft. of walking lunges and didn't return for a full 35minutes after the event was completed. There were 19 stations - here's the breakdown:
"SPIDERMAN"
- For time:
- 100 ft walking lunge
- Parallel bar walk
- 10 Pommel horse pass-throughs
- 10 Push-ups
- Around the cargo net
- 1.5 pood pound kettlebell swings, 25 reps
- 20 ft Rope climb
- 25 Burpees
- 20 ft Rope climb
- 45 pound Dumbbell clean and jerk, 25 reps
- 20 ft Rope climb
- 25 Double unders
- 20 ft Rope climb
- 20 inch box jump, 25 reps
- Climb the cargo net
- 10 Handstand push-ups
- Monkey Swings!
- Scale 6 ft wall
- Scale Rope wall
- 100 ft Broad jumps
Ok. Enough about ugliness - lets get on to some smiles...at least in the beginning...even in the rain...
The smiles have been replaced by small and silent prayers.
Another prayer.
Oh wait - ever the poser - the smile resurfaces.
It worked!
Only a small casualty...but worth it.Wipe the smile off your face!?
Better.
These rings were SOOOOO hard. I have a new-found appreciation for monkeys..and gymnasts.
Tia's 2001 TRIUMPH. This was huge.
Jeanine (trainer) rocked the workout and finished about 3 seconds behind the visiting GAMES competitor - and of course did it with a smile.
Tanner. He was awesome. Talk about being thrown into a burning ring of fire.
Now we get to see the "not-so-pretty" faces. Courtesy of me. I can't tell you how awesome it was to have a cheering section with Tia, my mom and my kids...it was wonderful.
Must have a monkey face when doing monkey swings.
At first I thought something was wrong with the lighting on my face...and then realized it was just a mottled purple/blue color from lack of oxygen.
Matty rocked the workout also - we were so proud that we made it through the spiderman hell.
AND this picture (courtesy of Ray) is my FAVORITE!!I posted these pictures mainly for my children. So that there is no question as to whether or not their mama (and papa could "take them on - any day any time").

Holy cow, you are my hero. You too, Tia!
I'm impressed. WOW. By the way, Trine told me you're having her over for dinner on Wednesday. Be nice to her. :)
Great pictures. I want to come down and join in the fun!
Elise was out riding her bike in our new neighborhood and saw a photographer taking family pics in front of this great old building with tall grasses growing everywhere. The mother was sitting in a red velvet chair. She was so excited to come home and tell me about it cause she knew it was just like something you would do. Next time she is to interrupt the session and get her card!
I loved the sequence of the pictures. That's awesome...
Thanks for inviting me. I had lots of fun....
That was INCREDIBLE, and insane! You guys rock!
