GUEST Author

I couldn't bring myself to write tonight - I've still got the "deer in the headlights" so Matt volunteered to take one for the team... (although for the record I would've titled this GO BIG OR GO HOME - and made some mention of Indy's winning the City's Cross-Country meet for 5th graders last week only to be slammed to the sidelines this week...)

Keeping with our fall tradition of injuries, Indy has decided to make a 2011 entry from an impromptu football game at Megan's music reunion in Yuma. Internet research indicates that football players occasionally get this injury, often when they have their foot pointing down and someone lands on their heel. In this case Indy was taken down by an older boy and another kid fell on his foot.

Our friend Scott Price is a foot doctor and he told us he has a Lisfranc joint injury. The incidence of Lisfranc joint fracture dislocations is one case per 55,000 persons each year, so Indy continues to defy the odds. Because the injuries are so rare, Dr. Price will probably refer us to a specialist (think large $), and because Indy is a kid, he'll have to be a kid specialist also (more $).

Because we just saw the Dr. this afternoon, we're not sure what treatment Indy will require.

In case you'd like to know what our previous entries to the injury files are:

2009 - Mac had hernia surgery, to reduce his nuts to the size of a normal 3 year old boy, from the size of a grown man. If he knew the difference, he would have been disappointed.

2010 - Mac, while demonstrating one handed bike riding at high velocity to his friends, lost control and broke both bones in his forearm.
**UPDATE** No surgery!! Yippee!! He's too young..no one will perform it on a kid...not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing?

At least you haven't had your girls injured in any way. Just leave it to the boys to find some random injury.

Get ready for lots of situps, pullups, and pushups Indy!!! By the end of this you will be able to win that cross country meet walking on your hands. :)
