Laina had a huge week (well it was actually like 2 weeks ago but who's keeping track?)
She finally lost her 1st tooth. This is HUGE. It's like a serious rite of passage (I had no idea) but she's still talking about it...and it was 2 weeks ago...in fact last night she was talking with her father on the phone (he's out of town) and she asked him to tell her Grandmother about her losing her tooth :) Anyway she was probably the LAST one her age to lose her tooth...I mean some kindygartners have already lost 2 - and here she is a 1st grader. The tooth fairy had to visit her in a hotel...but she found her and left $1 (way more than I received - except for the time that the tooth fairy thought HE was funny and left a large cardboard $100 bill and I cried and the next night there was real money - unfortunately the tooth fairy had a sense of humor that was not appreciated by a 1st or 2nd grader.)
So - her tooth (please don't be fooled by the 2 MISSING teeth on the top that never came in - those don't count - this was on the bottom)...we decided she needed a "first tooth loosing" photoshoot and we happened to be waiting next to these incredible wild flowers (while waiting for our beautiful bride & groom :)
THEN she received a Character Counts award from her school and her teacher (who totally spoils her) said so many wonderful things about her - it was fun...and yes, she was embarrassed (and YES it was pajama day at school).
Then there's Indy - who let me snag a picture of him as he was walking away. Classic.
This is who I spent the afternoon with - hiking Thumb Butte. Thankfully you couldn't see the 6 other kids in the car - yes it was a crazy school pick up day :)
We hiked the mountain with the boys and then drove (the speed limit) over to his game where he enjoyed striking a few kids out :) (And wolfing down 2 jr. bacon cheeseburgers and a chicken sandwich...seriously? There was more when we got home but I couldn't stomach to watch it.)
As a side note, the 2 younger rascals are exhausted from tormenting their mother during her pseudo-P90x 6am living room workout. Do you know how hard it is to squat and lift weights and try to avoid hitting children who are crawling through your legs?? When I sent my husband a text bemoaning his abscence - he told me to take a picture so that I can remember it 15 years from now...I don't think 15 years is long enough time...maybe 25??

I thought you were hardcore when I read p90x, but then re-read it and saw that you wrote "pseudo"... well good for you for trying. :)
Pseudo = workouts - minus the eating plan and 90 day thing...its a filler in for when I can't go to the gym....and yes it hurts. Do I get to count as "hardcore"? :)
I tried but couldn't make it through one whole P90X video....kudos to you!
hilarious. I love laina's photoshoot, the black & white and the yellow. And I love the fact that you captured that embarassed smile--so cute! Those cub scouts look like they're having a blast!
p.s. you're totally hardcore.
