7 years & 2 minutes

It has taken us 7 years to drive the 2 minutes down the road to have a picnic and load our family in a canoe (and kayak) and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. Literally - 2 minutes - no exaggeration here. I know - we're bad, but at least we finally did it. It was a gorgeous day (although there was a huge storm cloud that had us scared for a bit) and Matt and I were in heaven.

Indy is already obsessed with the lake and has begged for me to take him back out. We borrowed our equipment from our Hinton buddies and are forever grateful. When we loaded in the boat I looked out and Indy was already paddling away in the kayak. No one showed him what to do - he just took off! I brought my good cameras but after re-thinking the crazy wet situation, I opted to leave them in the car and went with Matt's phone - the Droid X. So the pictures below are compliments of the Droid (and some heavy heavy photoshopping - another reason why you should shoot in RAW - its life altering and makes editing so much easier).

So, since I had Matt's phone at my disposal I decided to try a little videotaping. This is NOT easily done when balancing a crying baby, in a life vest which she adamantly wants off, in a canoe, with a 4 year old and his bionic ninja arm - who continues to tell you that this is the most BORING boat ride EVER! However - I thought there was enough video salvaged that I made myself a little music montage.

(Have I ever mentioned that I grew up in my own little music video? Seriously whenever I would get into my jeep I thought there was a little camera attached to the corner to video tape me singing along to whatever song. When my father bought out first video camera he of course made NOTEBOOKS for us on the manual and we had to read them before we could use it - but I learned how to superimpose :) AND make some killer music videos. Now I have a whole cast to be in my videos!! I promise it will only get better from here. Maybe I can talk my USC film grad brother to come and work for me making videos of my family??? Forget law school - totally overrated! Documenting life is WAY better.

Now - welcome to our backyard or more like front side yard.

Now here is my first attempt at VIMEO. And can we get a shout-out to Neil??? I think I'm going to make a video for all of his greatest hits - except the wine one...that wouldn't be good.
(**I used Windows Movie Maker to put the video together then uploaded the HD version to vimeo**)

Totally impressed the pics were taken with the droid. Just shows how lacking my photoshop skills are since I can't even get pics that good with my nice camera!

And loved the video, and the Neil! If you are a big Neil fan you have to find a Superdiamond concert, they are the best Neil cover band ever!

Nice video. Every time I hear Neil Diamond I think of being broke down on the side of the road with you that one time in the jeep. We listened to a lot of Neil back then, eh?

The video has beautiful color and clarity! It is now final, Ella definitely looks like her Grandpa Wade. Mac is starting to have the mannerisms of his pa, at least.

That was so fun to see your growing family in action! Seems like yesterday it was just baby Indy & Spencer.
